Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants Predictions, Picks & Betting Tips

Eli Manning and the G-Men will head to Philly to takee on Carson Went and the Eagles. The Giants have stunk it up over the past 2 weeks. The Eagles have looked pretty good, although they lost last week to the Chiefs. Will Eli and company be able to turn it around?

Philly will be missing one or more of their starting safeties this week —McLeod, Watkins, and Graham could all miss the match, McLeod looks to be a shoe-in to be sidelined. One has to wonder if OBJ will exploit this situation.

Why take Philadelphia -5 point spread?

The Giants are offensively unbalanced right now

New York hasn’t been able to churn up many rushing yards so far this season. And Eli Manning isn’t getting much time in the pocket. He has struggled to put up yards and points. Tackle Ereck Flowers has been struggling, giving up sacks. NY actually made it a closer game last week than the 24-10 score indicated. But they’ll be playing a tough Philly defense at home. And Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t proven he’s fully recovered from his ankle injury yet. This could be a bad week for the Giants against a divisional rival —even if Philly is down some safeties.

The Eagles have owned the Giants

Philly has covered the spread 5 out of the last 6 matchups. Overall the Eagles are beating the G-men by an average of 17 points. But keep in mind there have been some recent matches that were very close —the last 3 matches were decided by an average of 5 points. But we like Philly this week to cover —considering how poorly the Giants have been playing. The Eagles are at home and will be tough to beat. We like them to win by at least a touchdown.

Wentz and WR Agholor have developed a nice chemistry. Wentz has put up nice yards through the air, and is also connecting with big target Alshon Jeffery. Although, his o-line will need to step up and protect him better. He’ll be going up against a potentially great secondary this week vs NY. But if the Giants offense can’t get things going, then their defense may get worn down. If this happens they could be picked apart. On a side note —although the Eagles have Sproles and Blount, their running game has’t been too great. We see them covering the spread —not because they’re great offensively —but because they’re just better than NY right now.

The Giants play much better. But they cannot outscore Philly. The Eagles get a home win over the G-Men, 28-21.

Vegas Betting Preview: Giants vs Eagles Game Odds & Free Spread Pick

This Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) will host the New York Giants in a key NFC East matchup. Kickoff is set for 1:00 EST at Lincoln Financial Field and will be televised locally on FOX.

Oddsmakers currently have Philadelphia listed as a 6-point home favorite with the total set at 42.5 points. Click on the link for a complete look at the Week 3 NFL betting odds and more links to game previews.

Giants vs Eagles Vegas Betting Odds & Game Preview

No one panicked when New York lost at Dallas in Week 1. But there’s now major concerns with the Giants after a 10-24 home loss to the Lions on Monday Night Football in Week 2. An offensive line that was a problem last year has been awful to start. New York has scored 13 points in two games.

Philadelphia got their season started with an impressive 30-17 win at division rival Washington as a 2-point favorite. That victory looms even larger after the Eagles came up short 20-27 as a 4-point dog in KC. Given those first two games being on the road, I think Philadelphia will be more than happy to take a 1-1 start.

These two teams split their season series a year ago, with the home team taking each meeting. New York drew first blood with a 28-23 win in Week 9. The Eagles struck back with a 24-19 victory in Week 16. An interesting note is the team that won the yardage battle lost both games.

NFL Betting Predictions & Free Pick Against the Spread: Giants +6

I think now is the time to buy low on the Giants, who I think are showing some big time value here against the Eagles. I know New York hasn’t looked good in their first two games, but there is still a ton of talent on this roster. I fully expect the Giants to make some adjustments with their offensive line and make sure that Eli Manning gets some protection.

It’s also going to help that Odell Beckham Jr will be another week removed from his ankle injury. He was clearly not 100% last week against the Lion. He caught just 4 passes for 36 yards. Look for a much bigger game out of him. I also like what I’m hearing about New York making a move to Orleans Darkwa at running back. He’s impressed in limited action and any improvement with their ground attack will help the passing game get going.

This is also a hurting Eagles defense right now. They aren’t expected to have their top corner in Ronald Darby for 4-6 weeks to start the year. They could also be without starting defensive end Brandon Graham, who is questionable with a hamstring injury. Philadelphia also has starting safety Rodney McLeod and backup Jaylen Watkins listed as questionable with hamstring injuries.

What you can’t forget with the Giants is that while the offense isn’t performing up to their potential, they still have one of the leagues top defenses. One that I think really matchups up well with an Eagles offense that struggles to run the ball. At the same time, Carson Wentz is a QB that likes to take chances and will turn the ball over.

Keep in mind the Eagles had just 13-points against a Chiefs defense missing one of it’s best players in Eric Berry up until the final seconds when they added a late TD. I’m not saying the Giants win outright, but given how desperate they are to avoid an 0-3 start and the defenses ability to keep them in the game, I would have to take the points in this one.

New York Giants vs

New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles Odds, Analysis, NFL Betting Pick

The New York Giants (0-2) will try to avoid dropping their third straight game to start the season when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) on Sunday as solid road underdogs. The Eagles will be playing their home opener and have won five of the past six meetings in this NFC East matchup.

NFL point spread: The Eagles opened as 3.5-point favorites; the total was 43.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. Line updates and matchup report.

Check out the OddsShark podcast on iTunes or at OddsShark.libsyn.com for more picks and a breakdown of this week’s top sports betting news.

Why the Giants can cover the spread

The Giants have not played well offensively in the first two games, scoring just 13 points while surrendering 43. While the Eagles have been the highest-scoring team in the division so far with 50 points, they have also given up 44. Philly's defense is nothing special, and New York will have the opportunity to score here despite playing on the road.

On another positive note, the Giants have thrived when playing early afternoon games recently, going 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread in their last five. Their first two games this season were both played in prime time.

Why the Eagles can cover the spread

The Eagles have looked great offensively in the second year with head coach Doug Pederson at the helm and quarterback Carson Wentz under center. Wentz already appears to be the better of the top two signal-callers selected in the 2016 NFL draft, and Philly might be the team to beat in the NFC East this year if he and his young teammates continue progressing.

Last year, the Eagles went 6-2 SU and ATS at home. They should be highly motivated to pick up where they left off and put on a show for their home fans against this division rival.

It is hard to back New York in this spot considering how poorly the team has performed. Can the Giants turn their season around? Of course, although Monday night's dismal performance at home versus the Detroit Lions left a lot to be desired.

If this game was at home and against another opponent, you might be able to make a case for the Giants. But visiting Philadelphia in the team's home opener will be a tough task. Look for the Eagles to soar and win this one easily by double digits.

The Giants are 1-5 SU and ATS in their last six games against the Eagles.

The total has gone over in the Giants' last three games against the Eagles.

The Eagles are 12-3 SU in their last 15 games in Week 3.

Philadelphia Eagles vs

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Betting Lines - Prediction ATS

Philadelphia Eagles (4-3 SU, 4-3 ATS) vs. New York Giants (4-3 SU, 3-3 ATS)

Date/Time: Sunday, November 6th 2016 at 1:00 PM EST

Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

by Keith, Expert Football Handicapper, Predictem.com

Point Spread: PHI +2.5/NYG -2.5

Over/Under Total: 43.5

Week Nine features a NFC East rivalry for the ages as the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants will face off at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with a 1:00 PM scheduled kick-off. The game is due to be aired on FOX for larger audiences as this is a historic East Coast feud. Both teams enter on contrasting notes as the Giants come in off a win in Great Britain against LA while the Eagles are reeling from a gut-wrenching loss at Dallas.

This market has a wide range of options as we have seen a price offered as low as -0.5 on the G-Men ranging upward of -3. Generally markets of this nature are designed to lure takers on the team with the points as the general conception is if they take the favorite with three points they will go ahead and win. However, this is bait and the Giants given their recent accolades may be setting up takers for a huge let-down as this contest may be settled by a mere point.

The Eagles have won the last four in this rivalry series between The Big Apple and The City of Brotherly Love, yet Philly has lost all three of their losses on the road this year. The Eagles are coming in off a 29-23 loss in overtime at Dallas, which cemented the Cowboys’ position in first place for the time being while leaving the Eagles to square off with their Northeastern rivals for second play accreditations and for wild card implications. The Eagles have done far better than many expected so far this year and given the fact the Eagles have fared well in this rivalry series against Big Blue, the majority has thrown their chips down on the Eagles. For what it is worth the Eagles defeated Minnesota 21-10, perhaps their most impressive victory this season at home. However, as stated home field advantage is a big role in this contest as both teams combined are 5-1 SU at home this season.

The Giants come in off a 17-10 victory in Twickenham, Great Britain when the Giants went forth and captured their fourth win in the NFL International Series against the Los Angeles Rams. The Giants’ continues to look lackluster despite having weapons in their arsenal. Yet despite the inconsistent offense, the G-Men find ways to win and that has to be credited to their game experience overall combined with the pure talent in their ranks that cannot be denied. The Giants have the potency to explode at any point. Within the Giants’ personnel we have sung the praises of both wide receivers Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham, Jr. and that in itself is worth banking on in this situation against a Philadelphia defense that is fully susceptible to giving up the long ball at any given point even if they are a tasty fantasy option in terms of defensive units.

We are simply going to approach this one yet again from the perspective of home field advantage. Against the spread the Giants may sometimes lay eggs and thus in a rivalry game of this nature, the G-Men spotting incremental points is far more friendly than a higher volume overall. The Eagles have some impressive wins on their resume and that is likely what many takers are banking on. Like many other teams previous to, the Eagles are the next squad up to descend in to the volatile environment of MetLife Stadium. These variables serve as prime rationale for us to spot the home points. This initiative has yielded dividends for us before and thus many would say if it isn’t broken we don’t need to try to repair it. The Giants are strong at MetLife, the Eagles are weak on the road. We are going to go ahead and call for the Giants to end their losing streak against Philly but not by enough to secure a cover. We have highlighted how markets of this nature work in regards to the deceptive illusion of winning by a field goal. We will not bite and therefore take Philadelphia with the points even if the Giants win outright.
